Level Up with Fire & Ice
Contrast therapy is a natural medicine for mind and body.
Fire & Ice is a cold plunge (40- 50 degrees) and a cedar sauna (up to 190 degrees) in a private suite, including showers and a changing area.
Explore the Benefits of Contrast Therapy
Sauna use has been shown to have numerous health benefits, including:
Sauna use has been shown to increase athletic performance by improving endurance and reducing fatigue. Additionally, sauna use has been linked to increased levels of growth hormone, which plays a crucial role in muscle growth and repair. This can help athletes recover more quickly from workouts and injuries.
Sauna use has several positive effects on mental health, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving cognitive function, and reducing the risk of developing psychotic disorders.
A scientific study showed that mortality rates from cardiovascular disease dropped as sauna use went up in individuals. The frequency of sauna bathing improves the prediction of the long-term risk for CVD mortality.
Regular sauna use has been shown to increase the production of white blood cells, which play a crucial role in fighting off infections and diseases. Additionally, sauna use has been linked to a reduced risk of developing chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as a lower risk of premature death. This is likely due to the beneficial effects of sauna use on cardiovascular health, stress reduction, and overall well-being.
Cold plunging, has been linked to numerous benefits, including:
Exposure to cold temperatures can increase the production of white blood cells, which play a crucial role in fighting off infections and diseases. Additionally, cold exposure has been shown to reduce inflammation, which is linked to a wide range of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
When exposed to cold temperatures, the body activates brown fat, a type of fat that burns calories to generate heat. This can lead to increased calorie expenditure and improved weight management over time. Additionally, cold exposure has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, which can help regulate blood sugar levels and prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.
When exposed to extreme cold, the body’s natural response is to enter a state of stress, which can be uncomfortable and even painful. By repeatedly exposing oneself to this stressor, individuals can learn to tolerate discomfort and develop mental toughness. This can translate to other areas of life, such as work or personal relationships, where resilience and grit are necessary for success.
Cold plunging can improve mental health and mood by activating the body’s natural stress response, releasing endorphins, and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Incorporating cold plunging into a routine can be a powerful tool for improving overall well-being.
